ABOUT US
STUDIOS 94 is a multi-studio creative hub in Chiang Mai, split into two main areas — the Creative STUDIOS and 94 Gallery. Founded by an artist and built for a global creative community, the space brings together artists, designers, musicians, and makers from Thailand and beyond to make, share, and explore art in all its forms.
Our five-story building is designed to spark collaboration, growth, and expression — whether you’re here for a short residency, working from one of our studios, hosting a workshop, or exhibiting your latest project. At the heart of it all is our mission: to support emerging and independent creatives by providing affordable space, meaningful visibility, and a sense of belonging.
94 Gallery focuses on showcasing contemporary art by emerging artists. Through rotating exhibitions, open calls, and special events, the gallery highlights bold, thoughtful, and experimental work that reflects the diversity and energy of today’s creative landscape.
SOFT TOUCH Studio is our dedicated workshop and community space on the ground floor of STUDIOS 94. It’s designed for hands-on making, creative collaboration, and public engagement. From private classes and one-on-one sessions to pop-up events and public workshops, SOFT TOUCH Studio offers an accessible, welcoming space for creatives of all backgrounds to share skills, explore materials, and connect through the act of making. Like the rest of STUDIOS 94, it reflects our belief that creativity thrives in spaces that feel open, playful, and full of possibility.
Every part of STUDIOS 94 has been carefully curated to feel like home — a place of comfort, color, and inspiration. From handmade curtains and reupholstered vintage chairs to playful design details and kitsch collectibles, nearly everything has been lovingly restored or DIY’ed.
Over the past two years in Thailand, the founder of STUDIOS 94 has gathered a collection of unique objects from flea markets and local shops — creating an atmosphere filled with warmth, personality, and creative energy. Scattered throughout the building, toys, games, LEGO, and unexpected treasures invite visitors to reconnect with a sense of childlike curiosity and uninhibited creativity — a reminder of the playful spirit that fuels artistic exploration.
That spirit is at the heart of contemporary art: it isn’t about rules or perfection, but about reconnecting with that intuitive freedom to express yourself without judgment. That’s the creative mindset we nurture at STUDIOS 94 — where artists are invited to explore, play, and make their most authentic work.
OUR STORY
STUDIOS 94 began with a simple vision: to create a space where artists can work, grow, learn new creative skills, connect with others, and be supported in their careers. A space that promotes visibility, feels like home, and builds a true sense of community.
Founder Chiara von Puttkamer studied painting at the Edinburgh University, where her love for shared studio spaces and creative connection first began. After years immersed in Berlin’s contemporary art scene and surrounded by fellow creatives, that passion only grew stronger.
When Chiara moved to Chiang Mai, she saw the need for a space made by artists, for artists—one that could bring people together, offer opportunities, and feel genuinely inspiring. We welcome artists and creatives from around the world looking for a space like this, with a focus on exhibiting contemporary art by emerging artists at 94 Gallery.
